Hi, I’m Mica.

I’m here because I want to get as many businesses as I can to shift into circularity.

It’s something of an understatement to say we are showing up for the climate crisis a day late and a dollar short. It’s really time to get moving. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to live in a new kind of system; one that regenerates our planet, where we all thrive in health, prosperity and peace.

A Shift

To Circularity

If you want to know more

  • I’m on a mission to get businesses to be more than sustainable; to give back more than they take, to transition into circularity and to become ‘regenerative’.

As a business guide and mentor, I educate, inspire, advise, partner and communicate with businesses of all sizes, helping them reshape their systems, shift into circularity, and ultimately safeguard our planet.

I believe we have a collective responsibility to share knowledge and inspiration. That’s why I commit at least 5% of my time to pro bono services, helping small and micro enterprises that are local, woman-owned or simply going above and beyond for people and planet.

On a personal level, I spend a lot of time in and on the sea. I support charitable partners working to regenerate our beautiful biodiverse marine ecosystem through financial donations and volunteering.

Having started my career in fashion and seen the devasting rise of fast fashion, I am, to this day, a sustainable fashion activist and campaigner. I give talks, host events like clothes swaps and go into schools to educate students about the negative impact of fast fashion and how they can be the change.

  • I’m laying out my Ethics & Code of Conduct for anyone who wants to work with me.

One of the best things about freelancing is getting to work with a diverse range of other professionals. It’s varied and fun. I get to work in different industries, settings, teams. In my 30 years experience, I’ve learned that, at the end of the day, ethics are ethics. Some things are flexible, some things are not. None of this is rocket science.

For the record, here are my non-negotiables:

    • We treat each other with decency and fairness. No exceptions.

    • No lying, cheating, or manipulative behaviour.

    • Harassment, discrimination, or abuse in any form is unacceptable. Zero tolerance.

    • We keep one another’s private information private. We will never disclose or misuse sensitive data.

    • We protect everyone’s company assets and intellectual property like they’re our own.

    • Know the law, follow the law. If in doubt, ask. Ignorance is no defence.

    • I only work with people I like, so chances are we will become friends. As such, we must avoid conflicts between personal interests and professional responsibilities. If one arises, we talk openly and honestly, asap.

    • I believe in collaboration over competition. No bribery, no kickbacks, no shady deals.

    • Whatever project we’re working on, we’re in it together. We protect the well-being of ourselves, our coworkers, and the public. No corners shall be cut.

This code is not a suggestion.

  • I've been ranting about sustainability for nearly 30 years now. It felt like shouting into an empty room.

Suddenly there was a shift, and now we are in a moment of fast transition. For me, this is beyond exciting. What it means for me is a beautiful opportunity to drop the compromise. I used to offer a gentle approach into sustainability. I don't think that's necessary any longer.

If you work with me, it's important to note that I come with an agenda. I will push you and your business into making the strongest positive impact possible. I do this job to make change.

    The Fashion Thing:

I started my career in fashion. I saw the fast-fashion business model explode onto the scene. I saw supply chains morph into impossible modes of production. I saw consumer mindset adapt at speed to disposable clothing culture. And I saw our textile waste pile up, and up, and up.

To this day, I remain an activist and campaigner for a fair, equitable, clean fashion industry.

Together with my good friend and fellow fashion activist, Diana Uprichard of DOLLY Sustainable Clothing Hub, I host events and talks to raise awareness and change consumer behaviour.

Most people in my local town of Lewes know me as a Sustainable Fashion Activist as they've seen me in schools, hosting clothes swaps, talking on panels and generally ranting about the true cost of the clothes on our backs.

  • I'm very in love with my local community.

Moving to Lewes, East Sussex in 2010 changed me in so many ways. Every time I look up, I see the South Downs. Being near the sea means I can swim and row to my heart's content. It keeps me in balance, happy and connected. That's why I have committed to giving my pro-bono and volunteer time protecting the sea and land around me.

I show up for my local community by:

There's a lot going on in little Lewes!

I am also committed to local business. As such, I have a formal commitment to spend my hard earned income locally, and prioritise suppliers from underrepresented backgrounds or communities, including women-owned businesses.
