To B Corp or not to B Corp?
Wondering if B Corp is right for you?
The first step is to truly understand what B Corp is. Spoiler, B Corp is not a quick fix.
Let’s have a conflab and I’ll explain how it works. And, crucially, we’ll explore what it would (and would not) bring to your business.
I’ll give you a realistic critique of B Corp’s pros & cons, including an honest view of its reputation and a heads-up on changes that lie ahead.
Navigating the B Impact Assessment
The B Impact Assessment (BIA) is a long and rigorous ESG framework.
You must achieve over 80 points before you are allowed to submit your assessment to B Lab. Gaining those 80+ points can be challenging. I’ll guide you through each impact area of the BIA and support you with resources like my library of policy examples, templates and best practice guides as well as tracking tools, surveys, and collating evidence.
If you have started the BIA and haven’t gained enough points, I can offer a gap analysis, bringing ideas and tools to increase your points.
Evaluation, Verification & the legal change
I can support you and your team through evaluation and verification, including the Analyst Call.
Having taken many businesses through this process I know the risks, the timeframes, how to best communicate with the analyst and how to present your evidence.
I will also guide you through amending your Articles of Association to meet the legal change known as Mission Locked.
And I provide post-certification support, such as how to adhere to the B Corp branding guidelines, how to join the B Hive community, and how to leverage your B Corp status.
FAQs
-
The short answer is 9-12 months.
The long (and more honest) answer is that this process is complex and different for each business. If we work together we’ll map out a timeline before you invest.

B Corp fees are on a sliding scale, and so are mine. Click here to see full pricing details.
Important things to note are:
Pricing will change as of July 1st 2024, at which point fees will be:
One-off submission fee on a sliding scale starting at £200 (+ VAT).
One-off verification fee (on a sliding scale).
Annual certification fee (on a sliding scale starting at £1000). You have to pay this every year for 3 years, then you must re-certify to keep your B Corp status.
You can use B Lab’s fee calculator here.
If we work together, I’ll crunch the numbers for you before you begin, so you understand the costs involved.

If it’s just the B Corp logo you’re after then you’ll find the investment of time and money overwhelming.
If you are in it for the journey; if you want to grow your purpose-driven business, learn how to measure your triple bottom line and want to be part of a strong movement for change, then it’s a total bargain.
You’ll find the process will give back in many ways, but in particular, it will feed your marketing with valuable content. I often tell clients to draw their B Corp spend from their marketing budget because that’s where you’ll see clear ROI.

No!
Firstly, not all businesses are eligible for B Corp. It’s wise to get an understanding of how B Corp views eligibility, scope, complex structures, and how your track and size will be defined before you start.
You also need to gain a minimum of 80 points on the B Impact Assessment (BIA). Then you have to pass verification.
B Corp is hard to get. That’s what makes it worthwhile.
If you don’t gain enough points, we can build a roadmap to get you there. It will be hard work, but it will be so worth it. And I’ll make it fun, I promise.
I Do NOT work for B Corp.
It’s important to know that I do not work for B Corp, and I do not believe B Corp is right for all businesses. I am an independent consultant who has helped over 35 businesses along their B Corp journey.
I can help if
